About:

Dr. Scasta is perhaps the most prolific Forensic Psychiatrist in the State of New Jersey for civil litigation for the last three decades. His evaluations are comprehensive, detailed, and well formulated with an eye towards credibility with his professional colleagues. His expert opinions are reasonably independent and respected by the judiciary and other triers of fact. His clients are law firms, insurance companies, and independent medical evaluation coordinators.  He served for many years as a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry for Temple University Medical School and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He served for 10 years on the legislative Assembly of the American Psychiatric Association and was a member of the Executive Board of that legislature, representing almost 40,000 psychiatrists. For that service the Assembly awarded him the Ronald Shellow award.

Dr. Scasta is a graduate of the Honors Program of Baylor University and did one year of graduated study in psychology at the same university before undergoing his medical training at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his residency in in psychiatry at Psychiatry at Temple University Medical School in 1982.   He was a staff psychiatrist and later Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ before becoming a full-time forensic psychiatrist in Princeton, NJ in 1996, opening his own practice: Independent Psychiatric Services, which remains very active.
